Mount Vernon – A $125,000 grant from Karen Buchwald Wright’s Ariel Corporation Donor-Advised Fund will provide a 50 percent match for personal contributions of $10,000 to $50,000, made either to an existing endowment fund or for a new endowment fund established in the donor’s name at the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County, Executive Director Sam Barone has announced.

Matching funds will be available for unrestricted, designated, scholarship or donor-advised funds, on a first-come basis until the “New Philanthropy Fund” is exhausted. In conjunction with this announcement, Barone also said for the first time in its 68-year history the Foundation has extended an invitation to local investment firms to manage endowment funds contributed to the Community Foundation by their clients.

Ariel Corporation President Karen Buchwald Wright, (pictured) who serves as vice chair of the Community Foundation board, said, “The New Philanthropy Fund was presented to me as an opportunity to encourage philanthropic-minded Knox County citizens to invest, sooner rather than later, in a trusted institution that encourages excellence in our community and is the largest single grantor of college scholarships to area students.”
