FREDERICKTOWN – Fredericktown Local Schools has launched a district-wide culture and leadership initiative made possible by a generous $10,000 grant from the Knox County Foundation.

The initiative is focused on building a culture rooted in responsibility, growth, and community. At its core is a newly developed Culture Blueprint, which defines what it means to “Be a Freddie.”

The Blueprint outlines shared beliefs, expected behaviors, and desired outcomes — providing a clear, teachable framework that unites the entire district.

The grant also funded R-Factor training for all staff. Developed by Focus 3, R-Factor is a mindset and behavior system grounded in performance psychology. It teaches individuals to respond intentionally to life’s events rather than react emotionally, reinforcing the principle that E + R = O (Event + Response = Outcome).

Together, the Culture Blueprint and R-Factor form the foundation of the district’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, fostering a safe, supportive learning environment for all students.

These tools help develop leadership skills, resilience, and responsibility — preparing students with the habits and mindset needed to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

This initiative also mirrors the performance model used by a major local employer and supported by community businesses, creating valuable alignment between school and workforce expectations.

Fredericktown Local Schools sincerely thanks the Knox County Foundation for turning this vision into reality.

Their investment will leave a lasting impact on our students, staff, and the broader Fredericktown community.
