Foundation announces changes to its 2022 competitive grant program
Non-profit organizations serving Knox County are invited to apply for grants from the Knox County Foundation through its competitive grant program. Applications for both major and small grants for 2022 are now available through the Foundation’s Online Grant Portal.
Knox County Foundation has raised its small grant maximum request amount from $5,000 to $10,000 beginning in 2022. Additionally, small grants applications will now be accepted on a quarterly basis with deadlines of Jan. 15, April 15, July 15 and Oct. 15, with awards being announced the following month. This is a change from the Foundation’s previous bi-monthly deadlines.
“The Foundation is excited to offer organizations the opportunity to apply for more funding through the small grant application process, while moving to a quarterly small grant cycle will allow the Grants Committee ample time to review all applications,” stated Lisa Lloyd, Program Director.
Major grant applications for requests over $10,000 will continue to be accepted twice a year. The first submission deadline for 2022 is Jan. 15, with grant announcements in February. The second major grant application deadline will be July 15, with awards being announced in August.
Prospective applicants are urged to review the Foundation’s revised “Guidelines for Grantmaking” before completing either application to learn about the Foundation’s mission, priorities for funding, criteria, grant acceptance requirements, and deadlines for submission. Furthermore, first-time applicants or organizations seeking funding over $50,000 are recommended to discuss your grant proposal with the Program Director before applying.
Both the major and small grant applications are only available through the Foundation’s Online Grant Portal. First-time applicants are encouraged to create an account on the portal and familiarize themselves with the applications well before the application deadlines. Instructions for creating an account and applying can be found on the Foundation’s website.
