Non-profit organizations serving Knox County are invited to apply for financial assistance from the Knox County Foundation, formerly the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County. Applications for both Major and Small grants for 2019 are now available online at www.knoxcf.org. The submission deadline for the first of two major grant rounds in 2019 is January 15, with grant announcements expected in February. The second major grant application deadline will be July 15, with awards being announced in August, according to Program Manager Lisa Lloyd.

The Major Grant Application applies to requests for projects of $5,000 or more. Grants of lesser amounts may be sought using the abbreviated Small Grant Application. Small grant requests are considered six times annually by the Foundation’s distribution committee, with the first deadline being February 1.

Prospective applicants are urged to review the Foundation’s revised Guidelines for Grantmaking before completing either application to learn about the Foundation’s mission, priorities for funding, criteria, grant acceptance requirements, and deadlines for submission. Furthermore, first-time applicants or organizations seeking funding over $20,000 are recommended to discuss your grant proposal with the Program Manager before applying.

The majority of the Foundation’s major grant pool will be available for distribution during the February grant cycle, so organizations applying for funding of $50,000 or more are encouraged to apply in January. In 2018 the Foundation awarded more than $700,000 through its competitive grant process, supporting approximately 50 local charitable projects.

Both the major and small grant applications are available in a convenient PDF format under the “Grants and Scholarships” tab on the Foundation website. Both forms can be completed on-screen and printed out for signature and submission to the foundation office.
