NON-PROFIT EMERGENCY FUNDING GUIDELINES
As the country continues to address the COVID-19 situation, the Knox County Foundation would like to offer support to non-profit organizations providing essential services to Knox County residents.
Whether seeking ways to help expand your current services or to minimize the consequences of your curtailing services to reduce health risks to our community, Knox County Foundation strives to alleviate financial burden during these uneasy times. Non-profits may seek emergency one-time operational funding for up to $10,000.
To Be Eligible for a Grant, Your Organization Must:
- Be recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, church, or an eligible government or educational institution
- Provide services to Knox County residents (although your organization may serve residents of other counties, the majority must be Knox County residents)
- Focus on:
- Immediate, basic human needs (shelter, safety, etc.);
- Mental health services; and
- Addressing the economic impact on individuals from reduced or lost work due to the outbreak
- Provide evidence of how the ongoing crisis will adversely affect your operational budget and ability to fulfill your mission
What Cannot Be Funded Through the Emergency Funding Application:
- Expenses that will be reimbursed, forgiven, or in other ways offset by the Federal Government and/or the State
- New projects or programs that are not directly related to addressing issues caused by the COVID-19 situation
- Payroll, operational, administrative, or others costs to cover services not currently being provided (ie: services/programs that are postponed during this time)
- Projects/Programs that are restricted to members of a particular faith community or promote a specific religious doctrine
- Funds dedicated for the purchase of food or other nutritional needs (The Foundation is providing funding to Food for the Hungry to assist with these needs. Please direct all requests responding to nutrition requests to Knox County’s Food for the Hungry Executive Director Lisa Mazzari, [email protected], https://www.foodforthehungrycares.org/)
Please Note: You may still apply for an Emergency Funding Grant even if you have an open grant with Knox County Foundation. The Knox County Foundation Board of Directors will review applications on an ongoing basis until funds are exhausted or the emergency funding is determined to no longer be needed. We will expedite the review process and communication of a decision as quickly as possible.
