Knox County Foundation relies on support from our community in many ways. This includes our Investment Committee that consists of financial and investment advisors throughout Knox County with decades of experience in the investment markets. Our Investment Committee is tasked with reviewing investment performance, market trends, and other relevant activity to ensure our investment portfolios are correctly positioned to balance both market return and risk. The Investment Policy is the result of the Investment Committee’s continuous oversight of the Foundation’s positioning in markets both domestic and abroad.
To provide assurance that the Investment Policy is strictly adhered to in a professional manner, the Knox County Foundation and its Investment Committee have engaged select investment advisors to manage our investment portfolios. These advisors have exhibited proficiency in generating positive returns, while avoiding excessive risk, while working within the confines of our Investment Policy. Donors may request any of these approved advisors to invest these assets associated with their established funds.
In addition, the Foundation will consider establishing new relationships with additional investment advisors that further both the donor and the Foundation’s charitable investment goals. The Investment Committee of the Knox County Foundation has a rigorous review procedure established for any potential investment advisor. This review procedure examines an advisor’s investment philosophy, historical performance, ability to adhere to the current Investment Policy, as well as the current and potential investment portfolio value to be invested on the Foundation’s behalf.
